Architectural ethnographic complex “Etar”

The Architectural and Ethnographic Complex Etar is one of a kind open air museum, situated at the foot of the Balkan Mountains. It recreates the architectural variety, lifestyle and commercial past of Gabrovo and the region during the Bulgarian National Revival of late XVIII and XIX C. As it was in the past the craftsmen of today continue the tradition to produce and sell their works on the site. The visitors can observe the ancient techniques and authentic tools, have a chat with the craftsmen and take home a handmade souvenir of metal, leather, clay, wood, wool, fur, etc. The kids’ corner and the confectionary workshop where sweet sugar roosters and other sweets are produced and sold are the children’s favorite place. In the complex different training courses for folklore and home crafts are organized.
